RAIN, RAIN & MORE RAIN!!! It has been raining continuously since Sunday night, with it ending about just two hours ago. People are buinding arks & going about town in kayaks! My poor husband was up all night pumping out a basement at work & the guys from todays shift are still there working! He just got home from pumping out his parents basement and is getting ready to tackle ours. We are very lucky though compared to some people we know. We live on the second floor and we are high and dry, other than some things in our storage space that may be under a few inches of good ole H2O.
My husband is calling it "armageddon" because roads are closed all over. A few towns are now declared to be in a state of emergency and the governor has activated the CT National Guard to help with the water. There were people fighitng over sump pumps at the local hardware store today, so badly in fact the PD had to go break it up!!! It must be the impending full moon affecting people! He went over to the local home repair shop and the rows where the shop vacs & sump pumps would be are completely empty-they were full on Sunday before the rain started. As far as I know, there have been no injuries or loss of life from this deluge, just alot of soggy basements and weary homeowners. The reservoir is so full, there will definately be no drought this summer.

It always hits the fan when he is at work!

At about 9 am I decided to take my dog with me to get coffee at Dunkin' and my car decided it didn't want to work! It was colder this morning than it has been for weeks, but the steering wheel was really tight so I called my husband, of course these things always happen when he is at work, and he suggested it was the power steering. He called his dad and he came by. We checked the fluids, ran the engine for a while and I drove it around the parking lot...a little tight at first, but then loosened up like normal. Hmmm...ok, now what? So I took it around the block to Dunkin'-I had to get my fix- and it felt just fine. We are going to take it to the shop just to get an 'all clear'.

I was just going to post some pictures from my most recent cooking "adventures" but I realized I sent the camera with my husband to an event he is attending tonight...so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Parmesean crusted chicken wings!

I thought I would try something new for dinner tonight...parmesean crusted chicken wings. I found a recipe online but tweaked it to suit my pantry. They are baking away and smell heavenly! I will post some pictures when they are done...and the recipe-that is if they come out as yummy as they smell!

Today is a beautiful New England day. At 71 degrees, it's an unseasonably warm first day of Spring. We have started home renovations. My husband and a friend are putting down new hardwood flooring in our dining area on Monday-but today he has to tear up the 35 year old carpet. What a project!I was afraid to see what was underneath. It stinks that we have to spend today inside, but hopefully he'll be done in a few hours & he can take me somewhere nice for dinner.

So, it's been a busy week...I will post more this weekend. Please forgive me! ; )

The other night my husband and I were watching TV-well, I should say I was watching "Trauma" on the DVR and he was on his computer. He does NOT like Trauma, as to him, everything they do is wrong! I told him, "First of all, it's a TV show, it's not goint to be real. And you don't like Trauma, I don't like Wrestling! So now we are even!" I think wrestling is SO fake, it's all choreographed, and alot of it is just steroid cases standing there looking mean covered in sweat. YUCK! I am banished to the bedroom TV on Monday & Friday nights so he can watch wrestling : ) But if that's our biggest argument, then I think we are doing A-OK!

We are STILL living off the chicken noodle soup, sounds exciting doesn't it? Tomorrow is Friday and that just might mean happy hour somewhere fun! It's been a heck of a week and I know my husband and I both need to unwind!
I am hoping to give my Irish Soda Bread another try this weekend, as the first one was a bit over-kneaded and therefore tough. I am not sure there will be enough time because my husband is having getting head shaved bald on Sunday at an event for St. Baldricks. This is the first time either of us have attended an event like this & he has raised about $200 for it, not quite his goal of $1000 but he only had about a week and half to do it in. I am very proud of him, shaving his head to help kids with cancer...I am far too vain to go bald : ) so I donated what I could instead, $$$.

Not too much to report today. Horrible day at work, but nothing a nice cold Landshark can't attempt to fix. My husband is home from work tonight, having a pleasant procedure tomorrow that he needs to "prep" for if you know what I mean : )I only felt slightly guilty for eating dinner in front of him when all he can have is clear liquids. Pray tomorrow goes well and I am SURE he can't wait to eat a decent meal : )-

The homemade chicken noodle soup on cooking away on the stove filling the house with an amazing aroma. Ultimate comfort! How I can work a full day and still provide a good homecooked meal, a patient husband. He'll wait for whatever I am cooking, even if it isn't so successful! He'll eat it, while I will want to order a pizza. Such a trooper!
At work, bright and early these days, 0630! Working some extra hours so that I accumulate one whole weekday off to spend with my husband. It sure is tough getting up way before the sun, but it will be worth it in the end,I know for sure! By Friday night, I am D.O.N.E done, just want my bed and my beagle to curl up with and snooze away. This Wednesday will be my first weekday off, so I am looking forward to reaping the rewards of SLEEPING in!

Since this is my first "blog" ever...I am just getting up and running. Please stay tuned, much more to come!
Dinner tonight was the superfancy-grilled ham & cheese! Since it was just me, I went the easy route...the dog was drooling over it nonetheless. Tomorrow, homemade chicken noodle soup from scratch. I have made this soup before, minus the noodles and my husband loved it, with one exception, he wished there were NOODLES. So tomorrow he will get his wish. I love to cook big meals that "keep" so we have leftovers for a few days. It makes our hectic lives just that much easier.
